Whitepaper: Treatment & lifespan of fire-retardant treated wood by Hestus

Fire-retardant agents reduce the reaction of wood products to fire, resulting in improved fire safety performance. However, exposure to weather and moisture can cause these fire-retardant properties to diminish over time. It is therefore essential to assess the durability of the fire-retardant treatment.

Biobased materials and circularity are high on today’s social agenda. Wood is increasingly used as a nature-friendly alternative to traditional building materials — which calls for fire-retardant measures. These are now also available on a nature-based foundation. But do such environmentally friendly ingredients and treatments actually have a long lifespan?

In our whitepaper Testing Methodology and Application, we explain how Hestus tests and applies fire-retardant treated wood. This publication focuses specifically on the durability of these treatments in combination with the expected lifespan of the wood products.

The whitepaper is available for free download here.
